Red River Ski Area

Loved by skiers for its laid back atmosphere, excellent value, and reputation as a top family-friendly resort, Red River ski area attracts repeat visitors season after season. While other mega ski resorts focus on luxurious amenities that can accommodate hordes of visitors, Red River focuses on a more relaxed ski experience with fewer crowds.

What also sets Red River apart is the almost even divide between beginner, intermediate, and advanced ski trails. Very few resorts have such a high emphasis on beginner suited terrain while also making sure intermediate and advanced skiers have plenty of trails to enjoy. If you have a group of skiers of all abilities, Red River is a great choice to make sure everyone has a great time!

Premier Ski Town of the Southwest

Referred to as the premier ski town of the Southwest, Red River retains its unique small-town feel that began as a mining camp nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico. The town of Red River was first settled in the late 19th century by miners who were drawn to the area’s abundance of gold, silver, and copper.

The town eventually shifted away from a mining hotspot to a destination for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Often referred to as the premier ski town of the Southwest, Red River retains its unique small mining town feel that reminds visitors of the area’s rustic wild west heritage.
